Opportunities & challenges

Skanska takes its Sustainability inspiration from external sources including GRI, UN Global Compact, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, UN Convention Against Corruption, Millennium Development Goals, Convention on Biological Diversity, International Labor Organization, Transparency International, World Economic Forum PACI Principles, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the UN Sustainable Building & Construction Initiative and others.

Using the GRI framework, Skanska has defined its Sustainability priorities using the Triple Bottom Line headings of Economic, Social and Environmental responsibility.  

Given the highly decentralized nature of our business, we have devised a two-tier approach to prioritizing our opportunities and challenges. Simply put, each GRI agenda item has been classified as:
