The construction and civil engineering sector currently accounts for one fifth of Sweden's climate impact. The Parliament has decided that Sweden shall have net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. This must happen simultaneously as the population grows, the need for housing increases, and infrastructure must be expanded. Therefore, it is necessary for the construction and civil engineering sector to transition.

On behalf of the government initiative Fossilfritt Sverige, Skanska Sweden led the work to develop a roadmap for a climate-neutral and competitive construction and civil engineering sector by 2045. The roadmap was handed over to the government at Rosenbad on April 25, 2018, together with roadmaps from other industries.
The actors behind the roadmap come from the entire value chain, and Skanska Sweden has signed on, as we see this as an important arena for collaboration. We support the goals, commitments for actors, calls to politics, and the direction of intent for the sector's climate transition. Together with other actors, we contribute to the continued development to achieve the set climate goals.
