This course serves as an elective towards the training requirements for individuals applying for a Site Safety Training Card, required under NYC Local Law 196.

Through instructor-led training with interactive activities, you will be educated in the following course content:

2-Hour Site Safety Plan (SSP) Illustrate and describe the different types of electrical hazards and corresponding controls.
Explain the basic Principles of Electricity.
Show the path to ground in a circuit.
How to properly test and use a GFCI, Inspect tools & cords, and proper use of them.
What are common electrical ‘Error Traps’?
Control of Hazardous Energy (a.k.a. Lock-out Tag-out).

Define OSHA’s definition of a Confined Space.
Describe host employer and controlling employer responsibilities in Construction Industry CFR 1926.1200.
Graphically illustrate and provide Examples of Criteria for Confined Spaces.
Talk about Hazardous Atmosphere such as Flammable, Oxygen deficiency and oxygen enrichment, and toxic atmosphere.
How to control Hazardous energy with Lock-Out Tag-Out.
The Hierarchy of Permit require confine space rescue.
Discuss the Basic Science of Atmospheric Hazards.

It also satisfies the New York City Building Code requirement for Site Safety Training related to mental health and wellness, suicide risk and prevention, and alcohol and substance misuse.

Through instructor-led training with interactive activities, you will be educated in the following course content:

The impact of substance use disorders in the construction industry and their effects on worker health and safety.
The physical and psychological effects of alcohol, cannabis, stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, over-the-counter medications, and other substances.
The signs, symptoms, and definitions related to substance use disorder, addiction, dependence, and alcohol use disorder.
Strategies to reduce substance-related risks, including treatment resources, overdose prevention, and naloxone awareness.
The health and safety impacts of tobacco, nicotine, smoking, vaping, and nicotine withdrawal in the workplace.
Suicide risk and protective factors, warning signs, and how to safely support someone who may be at risk.
Mental health awareness, including how to talk about mental health and access available support resources.
Industry and community resources available for mental health, substance misuse prevention, crisis intervention, and workplace safety support.

The course serves as refresher training for Site Safety Managers and Site Safety Coordinators as a prerequisite to renew their respective NYC DOB certificates. The course all provides new learners an overview of the requirements of NYC Chapter 33 and earn credits towards the New York City Site Safety Training (SST) Card -- required under Local Law 196.

Through classroom lecture, discussion, and audio-visual presentation the learner will be educated in the following course content:

An introduction to Site Safety Management, including the roles of the Site Safety Manager, Construction Superintendent, Concrete Safety Manager, and Fire Safety Manager
