This development on New York’s Governors Island will feature two hybrid timber/steel buildings with high-performance façades, solar shading and photovoltaic panels as well as historic structures adapted for housing, dining and classrooms. The project also has a standalone renewable energy infrastructure and public spaces.

Sustainable solutions

Design changes that we recommended for the project’s cross-laminated timber panels reduced material use and cost and achieved 2,000 MIPS at ground level—one of the first mass timber structures to achieve this stringent level of vibration sensitivity.
