CM/GC: Sound Transit, Lynnwood Link Extension L300 Light Rail

Leveraging Skanska’s self-perform transit expertise to meet project challenges

The $931 million Lynnwood Link Extension L300 – NE 200th Street to Lynnwood Transit Center project was a critical milestone in Sound Transit’s ambitious program to expand Seattle’s transit system an additional 8.5 miles.

During preconstruction, our team provided extensive scope development and planning to establish key early construction works packages that paved the way for efficient project delivery and coordination with key stakeholders and approving authorities.

Extensive design constructability and value engineering ensured the evolving project design would be fully constructable and fit within Sound Transits budget requirements.

Project risk was carefully analyzed, tracked and monitored throughout the project life cycle to minimize surprises during construction. This also prepared our team to quickly address issues when they occurred without severely impacting the crucial project schedule.

During construction, our team proactively mitigated impacts to the Edmonds School District Maintenance Facility by providing design-build services to modify our construction staging and execution approach within their property. This maintained the project schedule while eliminating impacts to the facility operations.
