Orlando, FL – Skanska, a leading development and construction firm, today announced the completion of an extensive renovation at the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality Management. The project modernizes key academic and student spaces to support immersive, hands-on learning within the nation’s top hospitality program serving a vital industry in Florida’s economy. The renovation also supports Rosen College's continued evolution, including the recent launch of the Universal School of Experience Leadership & Innovation, which further strengthens the college's focus on preparing future leaders across hospitality, tourism, events, entertainment, attractions and the broader experience industry.

The $8.6 million academic building renovation encompassed 77,600 square feet within an active campus serving more than 2,400 students. Delivered in three phases over a nine-month period, the project included upgrades to 16 classrooms, the modernization of office areas to create open, collaborative workspaces for faculty and staff, and the renovation of the Anheuser-Busch Beer & Wine Lab. The Disney Dining Room was reconfigured to enhance functionality and now features an open bar area, while the former campus library was transformed into the Rosen College Commons, a dynamic gathering space designed to foster collaboration and community.

“Delivering this academic building renovation at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management in just nine months, while the campus remained fully operational, required extensive coordination, flexibility and a strong partnership with the University of Central Florida,” said Tracy Hunt, executive vice president and general manager of Skanska Florida. “Our Skanska team successfully transformed the space with upgraded classrooms and collaborative offices. We’re proud to have completed a project that enhances the learning experience and supports hospitality education, a key economic driver for our region and state.”

The Rosen College of Hospitality Management is internationally recognized for its top-ranked hospitality program and near 100 percent job placement rate. Located near Orlando’s world-renowned theme parks, the college offers specialized degrees including theme park and attraction management and maintains strong industry partnerships that provide students with real-world experience.

"This project reflects Rosen College's continued commitment to providing an exceptional student experience through modern learning environments that support both academic and professional growth," said Dr. Cynthia Mejia, dean of UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management. "The renovated spaces serve students across the college and create new opportunities for collaboration, engagement and experiential learning as we continue to prepare the next generation of hospitality, tourism and experience industry leaders."

An industry leader in educational construction, Skanska is currently leading approximately $400 million worth of work on various educational projects throughout Florida in Osceola, Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Manatee, Marion and Lee Counties.
