New team unites data, AI and emerging technology capabilities to strengthen project delivery and support business operations
NEW YORK, NY – Skanska, a leading global construction and development firm, announced the formation of its Digital Transformation and Solutions Team, a move to scale AI and technology to continue enhancing project delivery. The group unites Skanska's Data Solutions, Emerging Tech and AI capabilities to turn project knowledge into practical tools that support project teams and broader business priorities. Durham-based executive Will Senner has been appointed Senior Vice President, Digital Transformation and Solutions to lead the team.
The team will operate within Skanska USA Building's core business and report directly to Chief Operating Officer Chris Toher, helping ensure digital workflows are embedded into daily operations and aligned with the needs of project teams, customers and partners. Senner will also serve on Skanska USA Building's Operations Leadership Team.
“By embedding these capabilities at the core of how we operate, we can better prioritize investments, make decisions faster and expand solutions that are already delivering value to our teams and customers,” said Clay Haden, President and CEO, Skanska USA Building. “Will’s breadth of experience across the business positions him to connect our strategy to execution and help accelerate our capabilities.”
With more than 20 years at Skanska spanning engineering, preconstruction, and senior regional leadership, Senner understands the business from the ground up. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President – Preconstruction for Skanska USA Building’s Mid-Atlantic and Metro NY regions, while also leading the operating unit’s Data Solutions Team. He understands where technology creates the greatest impact, how AI and data improve operations, and what it takes to translate those capabilities into measurable results.
"This isn't just about doing today's work faster; it's about rethinking how work gets done," said Senner. "We've seen how AI, data, and technology can take Skanska's hard-won project knowledge and put it to work for our teams in real time. By putting those insights and tools into the hands of more teams across the business, we can reduce administrative burden, surface risk earlier, and unlock new value for both our people and our customers."
Skanska's approach is already delivering results. Tools such as Expert Sidekicks and Skanska Metriks® Cost Modeling use AI to transform decades of project knowledge into actionable insights, helping teams surface safety and operational risks earlier, improve planning, and make more informed decisions. Since launching in 2024, Skanska’s Sidekick suite has scaled from an initial pilot to more than 1,000 employee users, supporting work across 500+ projects.
By bringing data, AI, and emerging technology under a single team, Skanska will be better positioned to expand proven solutions across the business and turn decades of project knowledge into a lasting competitive advantage for its teams and customers.
