The subway to Nacka is being built using traditional tunneling methods, which involve drilling, loading, and blasting.
Building a tunnel is complex and time-consuming. Skanska's team advances about five meters per day in the tunnel, which is expected to be 1.2 kilometers long.
Skanska has found a way to reuse the process water in the tunnels. It is centrifuged to remove sand and fine rock particles, and can be reused in the tunnel boring machines.
