When the city was severely affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, it was a wake-up call for New Yorkers. Hundreds of homes were destroyed, hundreds of thousands left without electricity. And the New York City subway system and many of the road tunnels entering Manhattan were flooded. 

Sean Szatkowski, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Skanska USA Building, shares his insights on what is being done to reduce the impact of flooding. 

And as natural disasters become more frequent and more costly, insurance companies are facing big challenges. Philip Thörn, Head of Sustainability with insurance company IF, describes the impact on insurers and how they are helping companies and homeowners adapt to emerging climate risks.
