Skanska has been awarded a contract to build a waste water treatment plant for a confidential mining client in Peru. The contract is worth PEN 279 M, about SEK 640 M, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska LA in the first quarter of 2014.
The project will treat residual waters to utilize part of them in the mining process avoiding the use of fresh river water. Skanska will be in charge of the construction of the plant and four pump stations.
Work has already started and the project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2015. About 1,000 workers will be involved when the project reaches its peak.
