Skanska builds the bridge Hisingsbron in Gothenburg, Sweden, for about SEK 1.4 billion

Skanska has, in a joint venture with MT Højgaard, signed a contract with City of Gothenburg Urban Transport Administration to build the bridge Hisingsbron over the river Göta älv. The value of the contract amounts to a total of SEK 2.0 billion. Skanska's share is 70 percent, worth about SEK 1.4 billion, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska Sweden for the third quarter 2016.

The project is a turnkey contract and the bridge will become a so-called vertical-lift bridge of steel and concrete. In addition to the bridge the project includes a facility for tram transportation, new roads and connections, installation, machines and control systems for the bridge and also demolition of the old bridge. MT Højgaard is responsible for steel works including mechanics.

In addition to price the City of Gothenburg Urban Transport Administration based their selection of contractors on organization, implementation plan and safety. The project will employ up to 250 people from Skanska.

Construction is scheduled to start in January 2017 and the project is expected to be completed 2022.

Skanska is one of the largest project development and construction companies in Sweden, with operations in building and civil engineering as well as in residential and commercial development.
