Skanska improves the A14 highway in England for GBP 290M, about SEK 3.4 billion

Skanska has, in joint venture with Costain, Balfour Beatty and Carillion, signed a contract with Highways England to deliver the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon road improvement scheme in the east of England. The full value of the contract to the joint venture is GBP 876M. Skanska UK will include its part of the contract worth GBP 290M, about SEK 3.4 billion, in the order bookings for the third quarter of 2016. 

The A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme is one of the UK’s largest road projects and represents a significant investment by the UK government. The scheme is situated within the county of Cambridgeshire and includes both new highway construction and the widening and improvement of existing highways.

Early work has begun and the new road is scheduled to be open to traffic by December 2019.

Skanska UK reported revenues of about SEK 18 billion in 2015. It has around 5,500 employees. The company is active in building and civil construction, utilities and building services, as well as facilities management and commercial development.
