Skanska builds multi-family houses for Riksbyggen in Gothenburg, Sweden, for about SEK 330M

Skanska has signed an agreement with Riksbyggen to build multi-family houses with 127 condominium apartments on Masthuggskajen in Gothenburg, Sweden. The assignment is worth approximately SEK 330M, which will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The project consists of two nine-storey buildings with a total area of almost 17,000 square meters, of which approximately 1,800 square meters are retail premises on the ground floor.

Construction is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2023 with completion in the fall of 2025.

The Masthuggskajen area won the Citylab Project of the Year 2020 prize awarded by the Sweden Green Building Council. In the justification, it was mentioned that the area is “an ‘influencer’ in sustainable urban development. The centrally located area by the water, known for its rich cultural life, is now to be densified with another 1,300 homes, parks, preschools, hotels and five to six thousand workplaces.”
