Skanska improves subway station in New York, USA, for USD 74.2M, about SEK 750M

Skanska has signed a contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to improve a subway station in New York, New York, USA. The contract is worth USD 74.2M, about SEK 750M, which will be included in the US order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2022.

Skanska will make circulation improvements to the Grand Central – 42nd Street Station, to help better accommodate the station’s current passenger flow and projected increased passenger count.

The project includes construction of a newly mined tunnel passageway, as well as the creation of new stairways and the widening of existing stairways. The project also contains upgrades to the station’s fire alarm system as well as core tunnel repairs.

Construction started in December 2022 and expected completion is November 2024.
