Press release
Skanska has signed a contract with Network Rail for its replacement Clifton bridge project in north England, UK. The contract is worth GBP 43M, about SEK 580M, which will be included in the order bookings for Europe for the second quarter 2025.
Skanska will replace the Clifton rail bridge that spans the M6 motorway near Penrith, UK. The existing bridge will be demolished and replaced with a new 130 meter single span steel structure. The new bridge will be built alongside the existing structure, before being installed over a 10-day period early January 2026. Existing bridge support structures will be re-used, reducing programme timescales, cost and resultant carbon emissions.
Construction works have started with the project scheduled for completion in March 2026.
