Skanska will replace the Clifton rail bridge that spans the M6 motorway near Penrith, UK. The existing bridge will be demolished and replaced with a new 130 meter single span steel structure. The new bridge will be built alongside the existing structure, before being installed over a 10-day period early January 2026. Existing bridge support structures will be re-used, reducing programme timescales, cost and resultant carbon emissions.

Construction works have started with the project scheduled for completion in March 2026.
