Skanska builds a new 400 kV cable connection in Stockholm for about SEK 500M

The assignment primarily includes groundwork including cable laying for a new 400 kV (kilovolt) cable connection, about 10 km long, between Kronåsen and Råcksta.

The expansion is one of several initiatives that Svenska kraftnät is implementing in the western parts of Stockholm, where today's 220 kV lines are being replaced by new 400 kV connections to increase the capacity of the electricity grid. The aim is to maintain operational reliability and thereby secure the Stockholm region's future electricity supply.

The project has high sustainability goals and will be certified according to BREEAM Infrastructure.

Preparations will begin immediately and production is planned to start after the summer of 2026. The work is expected to be completed in the fall of 2030.
