About the project

The project involves the rehabilitation of the dam structure at Braskereidfoss power plant following the damage that occurred during the Hans flood in 2023. Skanska delivers the work with an experienced organization and solid expertise in the construction of dams and concrete structures.

During the project, challenging ground conditions have arisen. These challenges have been handled through close collaboration in the project and by using innovative solutions that ensure both progress and quality. Skanska's long experience with the construction of embankment dams has been crucial in finding good solutions.

Progress is particularly important in projects like this. If the dam is not completed and approved on schedule, the start of power production may be delayed with significant consequences for the customer. Through good cooperation between skilled workers, project management, consultants, and the client, the project is delivered in line with the planned progress.

The project is carried out in close cooperation between Skanska, the customer Hafslund, and the consultant Norconsult. The collaboration is characterized by a high degree of trust and a common goal of delivering a robust and future-oriented facility.

Customer Value

The rehabilitation of the Braskereidfoss power plant contributes to a secure and stable power supply to the local community. At the same time, the project has had a clear focus on the environment and on carrying out the work without emissions or deviations.

For the local community, the dam has also had an important function as a road connection. The project facilitates the possibility of reestablishing this connection if the plans continue, which will provide better logistics and less strain on the road network in the area.

The project has also contributed to local competence and recruitment. During the construction period, students from Våler Upper Secondary School have visited the project to gain insight into the construction trade. In this way, Skanska wishes to contribute to increased interest in the construction industry and recruitment of future skilled workers.
