Climate adaptation

What we build today must last far into the future. One of the aspects that determines how we build in a certain place is the climate that prevails. But increased greenhouse gas emissions are now causing the climate to change, which we must take into account.

Conscious planning

Through conscious planning of additional buildings and infrastructure, we can reduce society's vulnerability, while simultaneously adapting to the consequences that a changed climate will bring.

How we adapt to the climate of the future

We must use modeling and forecasts taking future changed climate into account to build as sustainably as possible.

Reinforcement of ports and quays in the event of high water flows.

Plan buildings with consideration for future increased amounts of precipitation or solar radiation.

Create green spaces and plant or preserve trees, which both provide shade and manage rainwater.

Create environments with watercourses and open water surfaces.
