BoKlok

BoKlok UK is a housing developer that delivers affordable, sustainable, and high-quality homes. It is part of the wider BoKlok concept, originally developed to make home ownership more accessible.

As of 2024, Skanska is the sole owner, although BoKlok was originally a joint venture between Skanska and IKEA.

BoKlok UK’s homes were built using modern methods of construction (MMC), with major components manufactured off-site in factory conditions.

Homes are primarily built from wood using efficient, industrialised processes, helping to reduce environmental impact.

BoKlok was founded in the mid-1990s when Skanska and IKEA met at a housing fair in Karlskrona in Sweden and started talking about why so few homes were built for people on an ‘ordinary’ income. Today, BoKlok has built almost 15,000 homes and operates in both Sweden and the UK.
