We strive for all our actions to be in accordance with the highest ethical standards and our values. The Skanska Code of Conduct and the Supplier Code of Conduct contain the guidelines necessary to achieve this goal.

We operate ethically and transparently in all markets where we conduct our business. Our Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct define what we expect from our supply chain and all our partners.

Our Code of Conduct is based on Skanska’s values and is crucial for their implementation in daily life. Skanska’s values are not just words. They are a real commitment to a responsible, sustainable way of doing business, allowing us to be a trusted partner for our clients.

The Code of Conduct specifies the manner of conduct during contacts with our collaborators, clients, communities in which we operate, and other stakeholders. It contains practical guidelines for our employees regarding behavior in accordance with our values.
Our Code of Conduct contains guidelines for employees. However, they will still face ethical dilemmas. We promote a culture of transparency in the workplace, based on open, regular discussions of ethical issues. We want our employees to feel confident discussing matters and dilemmas related to ethics with their supervisors and others. All employees must have the assurance that they can report violations of our Code of Conduct.

Each Skanska Business Unit has an Ethics Committee that investigates all reports of violations of our Code. One way to report concerns is the Code of Conduct Hotline. It is available to both employees and third parties, including clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

According to statistical data from the Transparency International group, which deals with anti-corruption efforts, the construction industry has some of the worst ratings among all branches of industry. This poses a huge challenge for Skanska. In 2002, we published our Code of Conduct for the first time, and in 2003 we made available separate "Compliance Guidelines," which are intended to help implement the principles of the Code of Conduct. As a member of the engineering and construction group, during the World Economic Forum in 2004 Skanska was a founder of the "Anti-Corruption Initiative" (the so-called PACI Principles).
