We care about life

Safety is a key value for us at Skanska. A safe workplace is for us the key to a successful project, and we treat it with the utmost attention.

Safety culture

The foundation of our safety culture is engaged people and visible leadership.

We value the values of our company and everyone who follows them.

We continuously educate and train internally not only our employees but also the employees of subcontractors who work on our projects.

Trainings focus on OHS requirements and on soft skills, which are key for the development of a safety culture.

Safety for us is a dialogue – we ask how everyone in our company perceives safety and how we can further develop it.

Clear reporting of observations, potentially accident-related events, and accidents helps us with this, allowing us to learn from mistakes and eliminate or minimize the risk of their recurrence.

Occupational Health and Safety Standards

Health and Safety standards are basic rules that help us ensure a high level of safety on our projects. They are based on legal regulations and often extend them, especially in the case of high-risk work, such as transport work, work at heights, etc. Compliance with them is supervised and supported by implementation teams.

Our activities in the field of security

Risk control hierarchy

Safety management begins with proper planning. We focus on planning from the initial design, through the implementation phase, until its completion. First, we try to eliminate hazards so that they do not occur at all. Next, we choose technical and often innovative safety measures to minimize risk. Finally, we implement organizational measures and personal protective equipment to reduce the impact of remaining hazards. A construction investment is like a living organism that requires coordination of the ongoing work. Therefore, we emphasize safe work planning as our daily routine.

Engagement of leaders and education

Integrated Management System

The Integrated Management System, operating in each of our Business Units, is a coherent, documented system that enables management of multiple aspects based on objectives derived from established policies. Our goals within the management systems for safety, occupational hygiene, environment, and quality are implemented in accordance with the requirements of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001:2015 standards as well as the requirements of AQAP 2110:2016.
