Urban development

Kløverparken

Kløverparken (The Clover Park) is a former industrial area located in the northeastern part of Amager. Skanska owns approximately 285,000 m² of the approximately 750,000 m² that make up Kløverparken.

Centrally located urban development potential

The majority of the area is designated in the Copenhagen Municipal Plan 2015 as a perspective area for future urban development in Copenhagen after 2027. Other parts are ready for development in the current Municipal Plan 2015.

The Clover Park is located centrally in Copenhagen, and from the northwestern corner of Kløverkvarteret, it is less than 2 km as the crow flies to Kongens Nytorv.

The Copenhagen Municipality is working on metro service for the Clover Park as a possible part of a Metro Harbor Ring. This will simultaneously connect Refshaleøen and Lynetteholmen to the metro network, and ensure optimal access to public transport.

Future-proof urban development

Skanska sees an opportunity to develop Kløverparken in a way that connects Amager Øst. It is also possible to work with new initiatives and solutions that can demonstrate how urban development can become more environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.

The development of Skanska’s part of Kløverparken can help strengthen Copenhagen’s resilience to climate-related events, for example by helping protect the areas behind it from future sea level rise.

More green, less asphalt

A large part of Copenhagen’s urban space today consists of infrastructure for cars in the form of roads and parking spaces. This contrasts with the fact that fewer than 30% of families in the City of Copenhagen have access to a car (DST, 2018).

Skanska will work with designs that cater to Copenhagen residents who prefer walking, cycling, and using public transport. When car traffic in the area is minimized, it creates opportunities for urban life and urban nature in the spaces between buildings.

Social interaction and physical activity

Skanska’s part of Kløverparken is intended to support both the physical and mental health of Copenhagen.

The area contains recreational green and blue spaces on all sides. Within an 800-meter radius of Kløverparken, more than half of the land use is recreational in nature.

The recreational areas are distributed almost equally between green and blue spaces. In addition, there are areas that will be incorporated into future projects.

Near Kløverparken you will find, among others:

To the west: The sports fields at Kløvermarken.
To the south: The green corridor to Amager Beach.
To the east: Prøvestenssundet with, among other things, Copenhagen Cable Park.
To the north: The ski slope CopenHill.
